Mutual church friends Juan Carlos Chaviano and Manuel “Manny” Alcibar decided to take a risk in 1998 and purchase the awning business where Juan Carlos was employed. Their risk paid off. They went after an RFP bid with a local municipality and won the contract. This award was just the push the company needed to get its name out there. In just a few years, Paradise Awnings grew from renting a 4,000 square work area occupied by 4 employees to purchasing a 35,000 square foot state of the art facility with over 40 employees.
